|
Customer: Moody Mansion Event: Hurricane Ike Services: Water Extraction Drying Debris Removal Environmental Controls In late summer 2008, Hurricane Ike left stretches of the Galveston, Texas beachfront as desolate as the surface of the Moon. Ike’s storm surge, which crested at over 18 feet, swept away buildings and other structures as it rushed inland. In the path of the surge stood the Moody Mansion. Built as a residence in 1895, the mansion was later converted into an historic museum. Five feet of storm surge had filled the ground level of the mansion and the loss of power and compromised environment threatened the building’s interior. TRC acted quickly to remove debris so that valuable artifacts could be taken to other locations for cleaning. The drying process started and environmental controls were put in place. In a short time, the grand lady of Galveston’s golden era was returning to normal thanks to the prompt action and restoration protocols TRC’s experience in meeting the needs of customers whose buildings and contents have special needs. |
